Principal’s Welcome

Education has a long history on the Mickleham Primary School (MPS) site, with the first school opening in 1865 in our beautiful blue-stone building. Though we are now in the fastest growth corridor in Melbourne, our well-established trees help maintain the country feel that the school is renowned for. We recently moved into our new learning buildings and over the next 12 months our major building project will enter the final phase, with the construction of a large oval, two playgrounds and a sandpit. Our community values the beauty of our environment and importance of educating our children to embrace the natural world and promote conservation on our site and beyond.

Our enrolment has steadily increased and will continue to fluctuate as new schools open in the wider neighbourhood. We currently have just under 300 proud Mickleham PS students who reflect our R.I.C.H. school values – Be Respectful, Be Independent, Be Cooperative, and Be Honest. Our students experience a well-balanced education through specialist classes in Physical Education, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics), Library and The Arts (Visual & Performing Arts/Drama). We have introduced AUSLAN as our Language Other Than English. In the future, we will be integrating AUSLAN into our daily classroom routines, practices and Inquiry topics.

All members of the school community have high expectations for our students and are committed to ensuring they have every opportunity to achieve them. Our highly committed staff design and implement individualised learning and social programs to enable our students to reach their full potential.  The members of our School Council and school families, support our students and collaborate with staff around the personal, social, and academic growth of every child.

Mickleham Primary School is poised at an exciting moment in its history. Our new school will be the catalyst for us to engage every student by fostering curiosity and expect to focus on growing our awareness of the impact of learning dispositions on the achievements of our students. We have high expectations for every member of the community and value flexibility and a passion for promoting school pride and knowing our learners – academically and as individuals.

We are incredibly proud of our school and what we are achieving. We invite you to join our community, to help make the upgraded facilities a reflection of our goals and ambitions for every learner, educator, and member of the MPS community. Please call us with any questions you may have or to arrange to visit us for a tour.

I look forward to seeing you soon,

Julie Le Guen
